Food Additives & Ingredients (Sodium Gluconate)
Sodium gluconate has been utilized as a partial replacement for sodium chloride in sausage products. It is sometimes used as a debitterant ingredient in sugar replacement packets and diet beverages too. It can improve the taste of sweetness when it is used with other artificial sweeter. Food technologists and formulators have shown great interest in gluconate salts because of their prebiotic effect.
Pet Food (Sodium Gluconate)
Sodium gluconate is used as a food additive because of the flavor, solubility and ease of absorption.
Fertilizers (Gluconic Acid)
Commercial fertilizer producers often use gluconic acid in a mineral extraction process to manufacture highly soluble liquid fertilizers. The mineral gluconates are gaining acceptance in hydroponic and foliar fertilizer applications because of their solubility and lack of tissue irritability. PMP customers have successfully used mineral gluconate products on cotton, peanuts, onions, watermelons as well as orchards and vineyards.
As the cost of mineral gluconate production decreases and the value of this soluble mineral source is better understood, the use of gluconates as a fertilizer will become more widespread. PMP’s research group is actively involved in this “blossoming” application.
Herbicides & Pesticides (Sodium Gluconate)
Sodium gluconate works as a stabilizer in the herbicides and pesticides.
